 The
European Noise At Work Directive has been in place
for sometime now and every employer has a duty of
care to protect their staff from prolonged exposure
to noise or high level listening.
Until the launch of Soundshield it was difficult
to quantify the level of noise that employees were
exposed to through their headset. However
Soundshield is a simple and innovative tool that
manages a headset‘s sound level output and provides
monitoring data.
The benefits of using Soundshield are that it:
- Protects the headset wearer from sound
levels in excess of those permitted within the
Noise At Work Directive.
- Is compatible with both corded and wireless
headsets from all the major manufacturers
including GN Netcom, Plantronics and Sennheiser.
- Provides employers with evidence of call
exposure levels by collecting data at 30 min
intervals. Up to 3-months worth of 'sound' data
can be downloaded to an excel spreadsheet for
analysis.
- Improves call clarity. Soundshield Controls
noise on 'narrowband frequencies' rather than
just 'clipping', so that adverse, or white noise
can be eliminated and the voice can still be
heard. This includes removing fire alarms,
police sirens and fax or MF tones.

Soundshield Shriek Rejection
The Soundshield 7100 has a patented shriek
rejection software that enable it to detect and
remove up to 2 simultaneous acoustic shrieks within
16 to 32 milliseconds. (Two tone alarms for
instance)!
Soundstat Software
This is the Soundshield's sound exposure
measurement software. It can capture data over 3
months that can then be downloaded, reviewed and
archived.

Midlands Fire and Rescue Service has chosen
Soundshield to protect their Fire Control Operators
from acoustic shock injury.
After significant evaluation of a number of
possible solutions West Midlands Fire chose
