For
the hard of hearing
For those who are
hard of hearing the first question to ask is whether you wear a hearing
aid. For those that do, we offer the GN Netcom Telecoil headset, which
works in conjunction with the T- switch on your hearing aid. The Telecoil
headset with the GN8210 amplifier is compatible with virtually all telephones
on the market.
The Telecoil headset
is a binaural headset. Speech is heard through one earpiece only; the
second receiver contains the electronics to ‘tune into the hearing
aid’.
For those
who do not wear a hearing aid
If you are just
looking to boost the volume of a telephone, the Plantronics W10BP amplifier
may be the answer. This is a small battery powered device that connects
into the telephone via the telephone handset receiver cord. It has a
volume control totally independent of the telephone.
Alternatively, a
headset with an amplifier allows you to adjust the volume of incoming
speech to a level that is comfortable for you. We would recommend that
you choose a headset which maybe binaural to screen out ‘distracting’
noise around you and one that has leatherette ear cushions which channels
the sound into the ear.
